We empower families, educators, and communities to work together so every child especially English language learners can thrive. Together, we bridge identity, language, and learning.
The Voices in Education Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Alberta, dedicated to supporting immigrant families and advancing culturally responsive education. Founded by Yvette Jean-Jacques, a Haitian-Canadian educator and school leader with over 20 years of experience, the foundation was created to bridge the gap between schools and families—especially those navigating the system as English Language Learners (ELLs).
We believe every student deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued. That is why we work with educators, families, and communities to build inclusive classrooms where identity is affirmed and every voice matters.
Through professional learning for teachers, workshops for parents, and advocacy for inclusive assessment and curriculum, we help make education equitable and empowering. Whether it is through our Teacher Toolbox, our Navigating Alberta Education Together parent series, or community events, we are committed to transforming classrooms into spaces of belonging and opportunity.

Bridging Home & School: How Parents Can Navigate Alberta’s Education System with Confidence
As parents, we all want to support our children’s success at school — but navigating the system can sometimes feel like deciphering a new language. At the Voices in Education Foundation, we believe that when parents understand how the school system works and feel confident in that knowledge, children benefit. That is why we are excited to share this practical guide to help you become an informed partner in your child’s education journey.
